1 Sep 10. Pied Imperial Pigeons. The most obvious of our spring migrants are the Pied Imperial Pigeons who travel from the SE tip of Papua New Guinea each year to nest at low Isles. There is no food for them out there and they fly over to feed on fruit in the rainforest. Locally called Torres Strait Pigeons they have also been called Nutmeg Pigeons and Torresian Imperial Pigeons.
